High Thermoluminescence Properties of Dy+Ce, and Dy+Na Co-Doped MgB4O7 for a Light Tracer Application

‘Tracers’ are bullets that emit light at the backside so shooter can see trajectory of their flight. These light-emitting allow snipers to hit targets faster and more accurately. Conventional tracers all combustion type which use heat generated upon ignition. However, conventional tracer has a fire risk impact site due residual flame by-product contaminate inside gun lead firearm failure. To resolve these problems, it is necessary develop non-combustion-type convert luminance, so-called ‘thermoluminescence (TL)’. Here, we highly improve thermoluminescence properties MgB4O7 through co-doping Dy3++Ce3+ Dy3++Na+. The presence doping materials (Dy3+, Ce3+, Na+) was confirmed by XPS (X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy). as-synthesized co-doped irradiated with specific radiation dose heated 500 °C under dark conditions. Different characteristics were exhibited depending on or amounts elements, highest luminance 370 cd/m2 obtained when Dy 10 % Na 5 co-doped.
